Introducing: “essentials”

I’m so incredibly grateful for how well Second Life Kitchen has been received by you all so far. The feeling of putting out fantastic quality knives that people are going to use and enjoy everyday is a truly amazing feeling.

However, it has dawned on me that Second Life Kitchen is becoming a brand that isn’t as accessible to the average person as I’d first hoped. I had a message from someone just after my first collection, saying that they would love an SLK knife, but its not something they can afford.

To me, this was an issue that needed to be addressed. I’m not into exclusively making “luxury” products, because I believe everyone should have access to nice things.

The message resonated really deeply with me, the idea that my products potentially price out people who are exactly like myself made me reconsider the direction I wanted to take this company in.

So after this, I got to work finding an additional supplier for my knives, something that would be more affordable to more people.

So with that, I’m incredibly proud to introduce Second Life Kitchen’s “essentials” line.

The same Second Life Kitchen style, at a budget, starting at £95.

These blades are still 100% hand forged in Japan, with a top grade Japanese high carbon steel (shirogami #2) with San Mai construction, and recycled plastic handles. Completely handmade.

These knives are designed for people who are on more of a budget, and just need a great and simple knife in their home.

The UTILITY knife is a personal favourite of mine, and has taken the top spot in my kitchen above my more expensive, high end Gyutos’ and Santokus’ simply because of its sharpness, lightness and manoeuvrability in a small kitchen (like mine lol).

I understand that the “essentials” line may still be out of reach for some, and I wish I could do more, but through this expansion, I hope to create a more inclusive and accessible brand for as many people as possible.

Second Life Kitchen isn’t just for the highest paying customer, it’s for everyone.
