Our Story

Second Life Kitchen is an idea born from observing the plastic waste issue in restaurants in the UK. My name is Kieran, full-time chef and founder of SLK. I’ve been a chef since I turned 18 six years ago, and every place I’ve worked has the same problem: poor recycling facilities.

SLK collects and repurposes large amounts of plastic waste through our sustainability scheme, “The ReCycle Lane”. Partnering with restaurants across East London to divert their plastic waste away from landfills and into our products, giving waste a “Second Life”.

Second Life Kitchen releases limited batches of knives and boards every few months, each one unique and different from the last.

I want to give my customers something fresh each time we update our products. This approach keeps the creativity flowing and allows me to curate themes and ideas for products everyone will love. I may run restocks on popular designs, but you can always count on something fresh and new as often as possible.

Accessible Quality

SLK’s prices are kept low because it is a brand for hobbyists and professionals alike. I don’t want to create a product that prices out ordinary people like me, so I create products to a tighter margin, with accessibility for all at the forefront of my ethos.

SLK is also a one-man band; it’s just me (Kieran!) in my workshop, doing what I love. SLK has no employees, and no form of production other than the blades themselves are outsourced, so SLK can remain as competitive as possible.

Everything is made in house!
